Our Sustainable Economies Program focuses on accelerating the transition to an economy that serves our communities, supports our values, and preserves our natural assets. We approach this work by providing a common narrative to the diverse community and network driven initiatives that are shaping the economy in Vermont and elsewhere. Our intent, in Donella Meadows’s own words, is to “speak and act, loudly and with assurance, from the new paradigm.” This new paradigm is embodied by socially responsible businesses, citizens’ networks in food and energy systems, local investment, alternative currencies, and more. We tell stories of systems and systemic change, convene systems changers, and develop metrics to measure genuine progress.
