Katy Shields

 

 

Katy is an economist, educator and writer based in Vienna, Austria. She is Course Director of the Regenerative Economy Lab, a non-profit, educational start-up which aims to help people find their role in transforming our economic system. She is also co-founder of Re-Plot, a media company telling stories which illuminate the causes of our crises and guide us towards solutions. With Re-Plot Katy co-produced the acclaimed podcast series Tipping Point: The true story of the Limits to Growth (2023). Katy is also a board member of several NGOs involved in systems change, including Donut Wien, an organisation she co-founded which aims to bring the city of Vienna into the ‘safe and just space for humanity’, inspired by Kate Raworth’s Doughnut model. Katy lives in a solar-powered house in the Vienna Woods with her husband and their three children.

The mission of the Donella Meadows Project is to preserve Donella (Dana) H. Meadows’s legacy as an inspiring leader, scholar, writer, and teacher; to manage the intellectual property rights related to Dana’s published work; to provide and maintain a comprehensive and easily accessible archive of her work online, including articles, columns, and letters; to develop new resources and programs that apply her ideas to current issues and make them available to an ever-larger network of students, practitioners, and leaders in social change.  Read More
