Pushing the Limits Simulation

Published: April 3rd, 2012

We’re pleased to announce the addition of a new interactive simulation to the educational resources available on the Donella Meadows website. “Pushing the Limits: How much oil is left?” is a learning lab that allows users to investigate some of the most important concepts relating to an economy driven by fossil fuels.

By exploring the learning lab you will:

  1. Learn about the common calculation used to assess remaining finite fuel supplies
  2. Explore different assumptions that are left out of that calculation — assumptions that are likely more realistic
  3. Experience the implications of peak oil and diminishing returns on the ability to utilize remaining oil reserves

We hope that you will explore “Pushing the Limits” and our other interactive simulations as they are added. Please leave any comments you have about the learning lab below.
